About me
I am a proud dad to three, an entrepreneur, adventurer and hopeless romantic!Born and raised in England and after a successful career in finance, I travelled extensively, lived in Canada and then came to New Zealand in 2003 to buy a helicopter company which I successfully owned for nearly 18 years.I have become a celebrant as occasions bring people together and I believe I have something to offer. There is nothing better to hear giggles and laughter, family and friends enjoying each other’s company and living in the moment. As a Justice of the Peace, I am able to give back and support the community I live in.Flying helicopters has been my passion since a young age but only realised my dream in my early 30s. It is the freedom of flight and the characters I have been luckily enough to have met, that continues to leave an indelible mark with my eyes constantly facing skywards.I have always had a keen interest in property which has now turned into another career. Commercial property and special projects mix my business and finance knowledge with a client centred approach to deliver win win solutions for all.Finally, I continue to live an adventurous life. It is rarely dull and never beige. I try to say yes to most opportunities and love meeting like minded characters. We have but one shot at this thing called life and it is my intention to make the most of it all!

Whether it’s a large or an intimate affair, a wedding is a heady mix of anticipation, excitement, nervousness, mixed with a cocktail of family and friends who help turn it into being a whole bunch of love and laughter!Ultimately though, it’s about two people who are expressing and committing their love for each other.It’s a huge privilege to be a celebrant and my role is to help make the main event uniquely special about you.Finding the right celebrant that you feel you have a connection with is important. My aim always, is to craft and create a ceremony that reflects the very essence of who you both are. To calm nerves, to harness the importance of the occasion and to ensure all your special guests are included and engaged to witness the awesomness of the commitment you make to each other.I can help you both write your vows, recommend some caterers, photographers, which wine to have, where to go for your stag and hens parties, what band or DJ will get the grannies and youth up for a boogie. I also have a heap of useful tips and tricks to make sure you don’t blow your budget to help ensure your day goes according to plan A without waking up with a hangover. If you need a Master of Ceremonies for the post-match function, I can also do that as well.Testimonial....."From the moment I met Roy, I knew he was the man for the job. As an experienced Master of Ceremonies, former DJ and through my business career, I have had to present, hold and organise numerous events large and small. I can help remove the burden away from your wedding party so everyone can relax and enjoy themselves whilst I help keep your party on track and entertain them if required.I bring some unique life’s experiences into the mix. Never dull, I am a vibrant adventurous sole who relishes life and all it has to offer.It would be my absolute pleasure to help make your day sincerely memorable!

For over 17 years, I owned North Shore Helicopter Training / Orbit Helicopters.Thriving in a risk based multi-dimensional industry with ultimate responsibility for the safety of staff, clients and the public. I developed and grew a business navigating through the global financial crisis and gaining NZ Ministry of Education and NZ Qualifications Authority approval as the only North Island helicopter training supplier. Sold in 2019 but continuing on as CEO through its next phase of growth, adding military airplane contracts and increased VIP clientele.I have always been passionate and committed to the industry. Heli Safaris
Born from a desire of getting students out of their comfort zone, our heli-safaris have taken us all around New Zealand on some epic adventures!These flying adventures have an amazing impact on all those who participate, whether you are a pilot, aircraft owner or simply a lucky traveller on board.
Since 2006 we have actually covered the best part of the whole country, our most recent safari included the top of the South Island with 8 helicopters and 34 people. Our next one is to discover the amazing Milford and Dusky Sounds, Stewart Island and the deep south.
The Safari program is designed for helicopter owners, their family and friends to join together on a true kiwi adventure into the unknown, whilst meeting new friends whilst improving flying skills and ability.
Often a trip into the beautiful remote areas of New Zealand, can be daunting to a single pilot, but when travelling in company with an mix of experienced fellow pilots it just makes such an adventure easy, fun and rewarding.
A typical safari may include 8-12 helicopters, all types (piston & turbine) and pilots with different levels of ability – many of our Safarian’s have only just completed their licence. Throw in a mix of fun activities, exciting places to visit and amazing places to stay, you will not find a better way to have a great time, network among fellow pilots/owners, whilst have the experience of a lifetime!
